There’s no doubt about it, the Bay of Plenty is an incredible place to be right now. At UNO, we’re often wowed by the brains and brilliance
of the people who live here. Businesses have a huge amount of power, and when it comes down to it, they’re just a bunch of people – people who have the ability to have a positive effect on our lives.

The decision to become involved with Tauranga’s festival of innovation, Groundswell, was a no-brainer for us. Smart people pinging ideas all over the place and coming up with cool ways to
do things better? Sign us up! When you’ve finished reading this issue, be sure to fold out the back cover to start planning some events to go to that’ll expand your mind.

The enthusiasm for positive change is infectious. At Unfiltered Live 3, we caught up with our summer ’17 cover star Jake Millar,
and sat down with the CEO of Smales Farm, Paul Gunn, who
told us Smales Farm operates a bit differently. “We’ve had to break the rules about what a workplace means. We blur the lines between work and play, fearlessly embrace innovation and make sure we’re up to speed with the latest technology. We call it a next-generation neighbourhood.” Next time you’re up in Auckland, you might like to head to Takapuna to have a look around.

For now, let’s take a minute to sit back and consider all the great reasons to live here. Sure, there’s the beach (we can’t get enough of it!), but there are also a whole lot of firecrackers bursting with fantastic ideas. You might be one of them. Life’s pretty great, isn’t it?
